Official download
RebirthRO download: the free Ragnarok Online client
This is the client for RevivalRO, the server Syphon rebuilt after the split and the live continuation of RebirthRO. One archive covers both worlds. It has been free since 2004 and it stays that way.
Download the client
Full game client
Two mirrors, same file. Singapore is the short route from Asia, the Netherlands from Europe and the Americas. One archive, no torrent, no separate patches. After the first launch the built-in patcher keeps the client current on its own.
Before you download
- Operating system
- Windows 7, 10 or 11
- Storage
- About 5.3 GB for the archive, plus room to extract it
- Network
- Broadband connection
- Hardware
- Ragnarok Online barely taxes a modern machine. Anything from the last ten years will run it fine
- Platforms
- Loki is Windows-only. Freya also runs on Android 8 and above with the same account. No Mac client is provided.
- Price
- Free, and free since 2004
Installation
From download to your first character
Six steps. Most of the hour you spend on this is the download finishing in the background, so start that first and read the rest while it runs.
- Step 01

Create your account
Register a free account at ragnarevival.com. One account works on both servers, so you do not have to decide yet.
- Step 02

Install the client
Take the mirror closest to you, extract the archive with WinRAR or 7-Zip and run the installer. Pick a folder you own, such as one on your desktop or a second drive.
- Step 03

Choose your server
Loki for classic pre-renewal at 255/120. Freya for Renewal EP21 with 4th jobs and Android. The rates page lays both out side by side.
- Step 04

Pick a proxy
Select the nearest proxy in the patcher: Southeast Asia, Europe, South America or North America. Nothing else to configure, and you can change it later.
- Step 05

Pick your first job
Everyone starts as a Novice, then changes into Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Acolyte, Merchant or Thief. The class guide covers where each one ends up.
- Step 06

Join the Discord
Build advice, people to party with, WoE recruitment and support tickets. It all happens on the official Discord.
What you are actually downloading
One archive, currently around 5.3 GB. Inside it is the full game: the client executable, the map and sprite data, the sound, and the patcher that keeps all of it current. There is no separate base client to hunt down first, and there is no torrent.
The archive is built from whatever was current on the day you fetch it. Everything released since then arrives through the patcher, which runs on its own before the launch button becomes available. The first patch after a fresh install is usually the longest one you will ever sit through. After that it is seconds.
The same client covers both servers. You choose Loki or Freya at the login screen rather than at install time, and one free account carries across both, so trying the other one later costs you nothing but the walk to the server select.
Android
Freya, the Renewal server, runs on Android 8 and above. PC and Android players share one world rather than a separate mobile shard, and the same account logs into both, so a character you level on a laptop is waiting on your phone.
Loki has no mobile version. The classic pre-renewal server is a Windows game and is meant to stay one. If the reason you are here is the RebirthRO you remember, that is the PC download above.
Mac and Linux
There is no Mac client and none is planned. Players do run the Windows client under Wine and Proton on Linux, and through Parallels or Crossover on a Mac, and for many of them it works well. None of it is supported, so if it breaks the GMs cannot do much for you. Freya on Android is the supported route if Windows is not an option.
If something goes wrong
The archive will not extract. Almost always a download that stopped short. Check the file size against the 5.3 GB above, and fetch it again from the other mirror rather than resuming the broken one.
Your antivirus quarantines the patcher. Game patchers rewrite their own files, which is exactly what a heuristic scanner is built to flag. Add the install folder to your exclusions and extract again, because a patcher with a missing file will not repair itself.
The patcher hangs or the launch button stays grey. Let it finish, then close it fully and reopen. If it still sticks, run it as administrator once. A folder inside Program Files is the usual culprit, since the patcher cannot write there without being asked.
The game runs but the latency is awful. You are probably on the wrong proxy. Switch to the one nearest you in the patcher, log out fully and back in.
Still stuck. Open a ticket on the Discord. GMs are on it daily, and they have seen your problem before.
Download FAQ
Questions about the download
Yes. The client and the game have been free since 2004. There is no subscription and no charge to download. The cash shop on RevivalRO sells cosmetic and convenience items only, so nothing behind it changes your stats.
About 5.3 GB for the archive. Allow room to extract it as well, so plan for roughly twice that on the drive you install to. It is one archive rather than a base client plus a stack of separate patches.
Both mirrors serve the same file. Singapore is the faster route from Southeast Asia, and the Netherlands mirror is the one to take from Europe and the Americas. If one is slow, the other is a straight swap.
There is no Mac client. Loki is a Windows game. Plenty of players run it under Wine or Proton on Linux and through Parallels or Crossover on a Mac, but none of that is supported, so treat it as your own experiment. Freya on Android is the supported way to play without a Windows PC.
Freya, the Renewal server, runs on Android 8 and above and shares one account and one world with its PC players. Loki, the classic pre-renewal server, is Windows only.
No. The archive is current at the time you download it, and the patcher built into the client brings it up to date on first launch and every launch after that. Let the patcher finish before you press start.
